Juliana's Island
Imagine marrying on an island in the middle of a lake surrounded by your closest family and friends, against a backdrop of tumbling roses, ‘Bridgerton-esque’ gardens and birdsong. You’ll be under a Regency era pagoda with your wider party seated a few meters away across the water. Don’t be surprised if horses fields behind start cantering as your reception music starts!
Juliana’s Island is named after Juliana de Leyburne, who lived at Preston Court in the 12th century, when a previous house stood on the site. If you look carefully into the lake, you can see the remains of small flint wall which formed part of her manor house. Prior to Juliana there was a Monastery here at Preston Court. The lakes were created as the monk’s ‘stew ponds’ supplying the fresh fish which they traditionally ate on Fridays.
